How Long Does Laser Hair Removal Last?

If you’re tired of tedious time spent on shaving or plucking or repeatedly spending money on costly waxes, laser hair removal is a time-saving and cost-effective alternative. Laser hair removal is a safe and effective way to permanently eliminate excessive hair growth. Laser hair removal can be used to treat hair on virtually any area of the body, such as the face, arms, legs, chest, and back.

How Does Laser Hair Removal Work?

A laser hair removal treatment involves three steps:

  1. Step 1: The laser targets the dark pigment in the hair to disable hair growth where it begins, without harming the surrounding skin.
  2. Step 2: When a hair is hit by the correct wavelength of light, it absorbs too much energy and becomes damaged at its weakest point, which is located just beneath the hair’s skin surface. This hair follicle is destroyed and it cannot grow hair again.
  3. Step 3: It takes multiple laser hair removal treatments to disable all hair growth in an area because each hair has its own growth cycle.

How Long Does Laser Hair Removal Last?

Hair removal results vary from person to person. You can expect your laser hair reduction to last for around twelve months. But you’ll be so impressed with the smooth results, you’ll want to come back for more. Before your treatment, be sure to discuss your goals with one of our estheticians so that you will have realistic expectations of your outcome.

Am I a Good Candidate for Laser Hair Removal?

To be suitable for laser hair removal, the hair must be in the active growth phase. Active hair growth cycles are between 2 and 8 years long, although this can fluctuate depending on several factors. To determine whether hair growth is in the active phase, hair length is measured and analyzed. A hair that is 1/4″ to 1/2″ long indicates that it’s most likely growing. If hair grows more than 3/4″ before falling out, your hair growth may not be suitable for laser hair removal. The hair must be in the hair follicle and actively growing.

Laser hair removal is less effective on hair that has been bleached or hair that is “peach fuzz”, which is short and light in color and barely visible to the naked eye. If you have very dark skin, laser hair removal may not be suitable.

What is Laser Hair Removal Like?

During your hair removal treatment at Baltic Beauty, one of our licensed estheticians will use a handheld device, which emits laser pulses into your hair follicles. The process is perfectly painless and will not cause any damage to your surrounding skin

You can expect to see a 15 to 30% reduction in hair. Depending on the extent of hair, you may need between 3-6 sessions per area of hair removal.

Is There Any Downtime?

There is no downtime associated with hair removal laser treatments. You may feel some mild discomfort in the area being treated, but this should subside after a few minutes.
