How Often Should I Get a Chemical Peel?
Here at Baltic Beauty Centre, we often recommend chemical peels to patients who would like to improve a damaged or aged skin. If you’re bothered by the tone and texture of the skin on your face and neck, it can be a great option.
Just like most cosmetic treatments, ongoing chemical peels are necessary to enjoy optimal results. So, how often should you get a chemical peel? Read on to learn the answer to this very common question.
What is a Chemical Peel?
A chemical peel works by inducing a controlled wound and removing the superficial layers of your skin. Essentially, it’s main goal is to promote new, healthy skin and improve a variety of skin concerns.
There are a number of chemical peels out there so the treatment will depend on the particular peel you choose. In most cases, however, your skin will be cleansed to remove any unwanted oils from the treatment area.
Then, an expert provider will apply a chemical solution and leave it on your skin for 3 to 5 minutes. While you may experience mild stinging, it’ll be short-lived and only last for a few minutes. Once you’ve completed your treatment, you’ll likely face some peeling.

Types of Chemical Peels
There are a variety of chemical peels out there formulated to treat various issues. Although some chemical peels treat surface issues like acne and uneven skin tone, others address deeper layers of your skin to improve deep scars and wrinkles. Peels are usually classified as light, medium, and deep. Of course, light chemical peels come with less peeling and downtime than medium and deep peels.
Frequency of a Chemical Peel
The chemical peel you choose and your desired results will determine how often you should receive this treatment. If you opt for a light chemical peel, a treatment every two to five weeks may make sense. On the other hand, medium chemical peels are typically reserved for once every three to nine months. Deep chemical peels are only performed once.
