What is Permanent Makeup?
Types of Permanent Makeup
There are a number of types of permanent makeup depending on the results that you are looking to achieve. Some types of permanent makeup include:
- Microblading
- Lip blushing
- Scar camouflage
- Permanent eyeliner
- Blush
- Freckle tattoos
- Lip liner
- Eyelash enhancement
- Microshading
It depends on what look you are trying to achieve as to what permanent makeup service you are going to need.
Many of the options are pretty self-explanatory, with permanent eyeliner being a tattoo across the eyelids to mimic eyeliner. Microblading, however, you might not have heard of under this name but it’s another way of saying eyebrow tattoo. All of these services give you the look that you try to create with makeup but with longer-lasting results.
What Getting Permanent Makeup is Like
Depending on which treatment you ultimately decide on, the procedures can range from slightly uncomfortable to rather painful. You need to remember that you are getting a tattoo on your face.
Another factor that determines what it’s going to be like for you is your pain threshold. For those who have a high pain threshold, none of the procedures will be particularly painful. Typically, permanent eyeliner and lip blushing tend to be the most uncomfortable types of permanent makeup.
Benefits of Permanent Makeup
The main benefit to these treatments is that they last a long time. Like all tattoos, permanent makeup will fade, so you may find yourself heading back to a provider to have this re-done. On average, permanent makeup lasts around three to five years.
Another benefit is that it makes your morning routine much easier. The time that it takes you to get ready will be significantly reduced because you won’t have to worry about putting makeup on for the day! Instead, you will wake up feeling fresh, and looking amazing, with very little effort needed to get you ready.

Am I a Candidate for Permanent Makeup?
There is no upper age limit when it comes to permanent makeup, so as long as you are over the age of 18, age is not going to be an issue.
If you participate in sports, then you could be the perfect candidate for permanent makeup. The reason for this is that it doesn’t come off along with sweat when you are playing!
Really, as long as you have skin that is in good condition, you should be a candidate for permanent makeup. However, if you have a skin condition such as eczema, or you have rashes, shingles and so on then you may not be a good candidate for this procedure.
